HEALY TO TAKE THE LEAD ROLE
Irish Daily Mirror
|August 27, 2025
BEN HEALY tops the bill for Ireland's six-man squad selected for the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Rwanda next month.
Healy, 24, wore the yellow jersey for two days in this summer's Tour de France, taking his first stage win in the process. The former national champion also found himself on the podium at the prestigious Liege-Bastogne-Liege race earlier in the year.
Healy's (above, yellow jersey) most recent appearances in an Irish jersey saw him take top-10s at last year’s World Championships in Switzerland and at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer.
Tadej Pogacar won last year's Worlds, becoming the first rider since Stephen Roche in 1987 to win the sports’ triple crown of the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia and World Championships, with Healy finishing in seventh.
