Life's so much sweeter for Slam winner as Mcllroy admits: Clear head and no politics means | can focus on my game

RORY McILROY has revealed his “clear head” after stepping away from golf politics has been key to his personal happiness - and his Grand Slam glory.

The world No.2 will this week bid to crown his memorable year by retaining the DP World Tour Championship and winning a seventh Race to Dubai.

Mcllroy won the Masters in April, the Irish Open in a playoff in July and then helped Europe to an away Ryder Cup win.

And he even starred alongside Adam Sandler (below left) in hit Netflix film Happy Gilmore 2.

Speaking before the final event of the season, the 36-year-old was asked if this is the happiest he has been for a long time.

“Yeah, I think it is,” he replied.

McIlroy had described winning his fourth different Major as “climbing his Everest” as he pondered “new goals’.
