CLAIRE Byrne has emotionally signed off her RTE Radio 1 show for the last time.

- BY ERICA CARTER

The broadcaster has been presenting Today with Claire Byrne for the last five years and has been with the national broadcaster for 15.

As her final show came to a close, Claire said goodbye her listeners and her colleagues.

She said: "I wanted to say goodbye to you all because it is my last show in RTE and it is time to hand over the baton.

"I wanted to say to you that I've had the most wonderful 15 years here, I have had so many great opportunities, I've met so many inspiring people in this studio and others over the years.

"I want to say a really special thank you to the team on this show.

"I simply could not sit here in this chair and do what I do without them.
