AS Wexford teammates dropped like flies while Lee Chin lapped up the Australian sun, did he consider joining them in retirement? The short answer is no.
Chin, 32, had resolved to spend three months in Australia from a long way out last year to recharge the batteries and avoid the harsh Irish winter.
There he met Matthew O'Hanlon, who is based himself in Australia and it was from there that he announced his retirement in December.
Diarmuid O'Keeffe and Liam Og McGovern soon followed suit.
"It does hit you," says Chin. "I met Matthew before the both of us went to Australia, I was gone before him.
"So we met and he had broke the news to me. It's not something that you would be predicting because you'd always expect a lad to maybe...
'Ah there's more in him, there's another year in him' but he told me, and obviously it was tough to hear.
