IT seems apt that Conor Brann was finally freed from the bench on Independence Day.

The Cork City keeper spent three years with Swindon Town before getting released at the end of last year.

He became backup at Cork City and then finally, on July 4, he made his senior debut.

And since then he has established himself as City’s No.1.

The 22-year-old Galwegian (above) said: “Even when I was a reserve, I was training with keepers and was learning all the time.
