Houghton urges FAI not to ditch boss Hallgrimsson

FAI CHIEFS have been urged not to dump Heimir Hallgrimsson - regardless of the outcome of Ireland's final two World Cup qualifiers.

Legend Ray Houghton, who helped lure Giovanni Trapattoni in 2008 as part of a three-man recruitment team alongside Don Givens and Don Howe, does not believe a change at the top will solve anything.

It is widely believed that Hallgrimsson’s contract will not be renewed if Ireland do not secure a playoff spot.
