Young Women in Andhra Pradesh Experiencing Rise in Overactive Bladder Cases by 2025

Indian Chronicle

July 10, 2025

A growing number of young women in Andhra Pradesh are being diagnosed with Overactive Bladder (OAB), a condition marked by sudden, uncontrollable urges to urinate, often resulting in urge incontinence. Recent data suggests that 33% of women presenting with urinary incontinence are experiencing OAB-related symptoms, with 15% suffering severe cases that disrupt their social and emotional well-being.

This trend is especially concerning among women aged 21 to 30, where past studies have already recorded 20.14% prevalence of stress urinary incontinence. As Andhra Pradesh’s population continues to urbanize and lifestyle patterns shift, specialists are calling attention to the urgent need for early diagnosis, targeted intervention, and specialized care infrastructure to address this burden.
