GRIX ON WHY 2025 HAS GIVEN ROOM FOR OPTIMISM
NOT even the biggest spoilsports would begrudge Simon Grix enjoying himself this year.
The Hull FC assistant fronted the catastrophe that was 2024 as “interim coach” = given an impossible hand as the club cut their losses and sank to an 11th placed Super League finish.
But now he’s very much a part of a new Black and White wave as John Cartwright’s right-hand man - and he’s in his element again.
Embracing change, the new ownership, new coaching staff, and new experienced players have seen Hull on the up once more with a team that never backs down, with Grix playing his role in Hull’s playoff push and optimistic for what lies ahead - both for this year and the seasons to come.
“I think we've probably exceeded everyone’s external expectations this year,’ Grix, speaking to Hull Live, said.
“From getting back into training, none of us knew what to expect with so many new people in the room, but it was pretty clear to see straight away that those older boys have not come for a holiday - they've come to do exactly what they were brought in to do: to make the place better and help bring some of those young lads along.
“They've done a good job and we're heading in the right direction. There’s still quite a bit to play for this year and again, there will be significant change next year and hopefully there are further steps forward for us as a club.
