NEED TO INSPIRE NEXT GENERATION OF SKILLED CRAFTSPEOPLE

Minster custodians champion the future of heritage trades

CUSTODIANS of one of UK's most iconic structures, Beverley Minster, are championing the heritage skills needed to conserve it to inspire the next generation.

Delaney Marling Partnership, a leading firm of chartered building surveyors, is shining a spotlight on the importance of heritage trades and the rewarding career opportunities they offer. The demand for skilled professionals is growing, due to an ageing workforce and increasing conservation needs.

However, many schools and career advisers overlook these practical options when guiding young people. Delaney Marling Partnership wants to bridge this gap by encouraging students, parents, and educators to explore heritage skills as a viable and fulfilling career path.

Simon Delaney, surveyor to Beverley Minster, said: "There's an urgent need to inspire the next generation of craftspeople. Without them, our ability to maintain historic landmarks like Beverley Minster will be at risk. Heritage skills offer not only technical training but also a sense of purpose and pride in contributing to something timeless.
