KR's Lawton move offers versatility

KARL Lawton is Hull KR's newest recruit for the 2026 season and with that, it gives the Robins squad some much-needed versatility.

Lawton's arrival is a welcome one for Willie Peters and on the face of it, a smart one too.
There are some obvious positive signs; the fact North Queensland Cowboys were as reluctant as they were to let him leave was an obvious positive and his age and experience are further good signs that Rovers are recruiting a good player.
But it crucially makes a lot of sense too. While other departing players have been replaced from the 2025 squad, one that hadn't was Micky Mcllorum.
