BEVERLEY BLUES WEEKEND WILL SEE THE TOWN'S HISTORIC SUN INN IN FLEMINGATE TRANSFORMED

Free music festival is 'biggest yet'

The Aligators

ORGANISERS say a free East Yorkshire music festival taking place this month will be the biggest yet.

The Beverley Blues Weekend will see the town's historic Sun Inn in Flemingate transformed into a fusion of a Mississippi Delta juke joint and a Chicago blues club. Now in its sixteenth year, the festival will run from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26 and feature two of the area's top blues bands.

The Juke Joint Kings are fresh off their headline performance at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, while The Alligators have been impressing audiences since their formation in 2004.

Entry is free all weekend, with Chicago Bound and the Juke Joint Kings kicking off the event on the Friday from 9pm. The festivities continue from mid-afternoon until late on Saturday, featuring an impressive lineup that includes Dexter, Studio 77, Simon Boult and Sun Cat, Dog-finger and One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer with Jonny and the Rizlas headlining from 9pm.

The Alligators, one of the headline acts at this year's Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival, will bring the weekend to a lively conclusion, supported by Chris 'The Man in The Hat' Martin from 6pm on Sunday.
