SPECIAL EVENTS ARE BEING HELD TO REMEMBER AND REFLECT VICTORY

Celebrations in full swing for VE Day

THIS week see's the 80th anniversary of VE Day and a time to remember and reflect on those that fought and served in World War II. There are several venues across the area holding special events to mark the anniversary.

Tomorrow afternoon local entertainer Hutch is hosting a VE Day celebration at the Willows Sports and Social Club on Holderness Road.

The indoor street party will feature some of the areas entertainers including local girl Lisa Kelsey.

She will be performing her award-winning tribute show to the 1940s and Dr Jive will be performing popular hits from the 1950s and 1960's.

The afternoon will also feature the excellent vocalist Martin Jackson singing a great selection of songs.

Tickets costs £5 from the club but as with all events please check that they have tickets available.

On Friday night, May 9, the Hessle Ex-Servicemen's club are holding a VE celebration night with special guest appearance from Kirsty Williams who will be covering wartime songs with her 1940s tribute act.

The evening is free for members and just £3 for guests, if you want to attend you are asked to get tickets in advance as there are only a limited number available.

There will be a free light buffet on the night and prizes for the best wartime outfits. Tickets are available at the club at 22 Hull Rd, Hessle or by calling 01482 643122.
