Beaumont admits Leopards facing salary cap pressures

LEIGH owner Derek Beaumont has admitted that some of the club's star players are potentially “outperforming” their current contracts as the Leopards prepare to feel the pinch of the Super League salary cap.

Robbie Mulhern has become the latest Leigh player to attract interest from both sides of the globe, initially from Castleford Tigers before reports in Australia linked the prop with South Sydney Rabbitohs.

It is understood that Mulhern previously held talks with Gold Coast Titans a few years back, and he has reportedly been eyed up by Wayne Bennett for the 2027 season.

The 31-year-old is free to negotiate with rival clubs, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2026 campaign.
