£9.5m funding to protect South Cave from floods

PROJECT ANNOUNCED AFTER GRANT FROM THE GOVERNMENT
A £9.5m flood alleviation scheme is set to be created in South Cave.
The East Yorkshire village has suffered from multiple flood events in the past, most notably in 2007 and 2014 when a significant number of properties were flooded.
East Riding Council has announced the project after securing £7.4m in government funding.
The scheme will see a new flood storage area constructed upstream of the village, which will be designed to help reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rainfall.
