Further delays to repair works on Menai Suspension Bridge not acceptable at all

THE frustrating and disappointing news of further delays to the works programme to repair the Menai Suspension Bridge is a huge blow to the local community, its economy and to Ynys Môn more broadly.

Businesses will feel the impact, commuters will suffer even more delays for a longer period, and concerns about safety in ensuring access to and from the island in emergency situations will continue.

It also means that the bridge will not be ready for its two hundredth anniversary celebrations in January next year, despite numerous promises from the Welsh Government since the programme was announced back in July 2023.
