Praveen Chowgule (31), an airline crew member who is accused of murdering his colleague and three of her family members, including her 12-year-old brother, in Udupi district of Karnataka was planning for days after she rejected his advances, police said on Thursday.

Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) Arun Kumar said the accused, who is currently in 14-day police custody, had hid the knife used in the murder back in the kitchen of his house, where he lived with his wife.

"Working in the same airline, the accused and the victim knew each other and gradually developed a friendship. However, after the woman stopped talking to Chowgule last month, the accused was nursing animosity against her," the SP said.
