THE SP HAS NAMED 31 CANDIDATES IN TOTAL FOR THE 17 SEATS PROPOSED TO CONG FOR THE LOK SABHA POLLS

- Pankaj Jaiswal

The Samajwadi Party (SP) hinted on Tuesday that its offer of 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh to the Congress was final and won't be changed, upping the pressure on its potential ally that is yet to publicly comment on the proposal for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

SP leaders aware of the matter said that the Akhilesh Yadav-led party put the ball in the Congress's court over the offer, which was announced on Monday even as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was arriving in erstwhile family bastion Amethi.

"This is the final list from us that even accommodated several of the seats that we were originally not ready to concede to Congress. There will not be any changes from our side anymore. It's up to Congress now to accept or reject it," said one of the senior SP leader aware of the developments on the seat-sharing front.
