The Congress confirmed on Friday that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former chief Sonia Gandhi have been invited for the inauguration of the Ram Temple on January 22, adding that internal discussions were on to decide if the leaders would attend the event.

The opening of the Ram Temple is likely to be a mega event presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has put several Opposition leaders in a quandary over whether they should attend the inauguration that comes just months ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The Congress general secretary for communication, Jairam Ramesh, confirmed that both Gandhi and Kharge have received invitations. "The decision will be taken and communicated at an appropriate time," he said.
