The Rajasthan high court has refused to allow a 22-year-old rape survivor to terminate her 30-week pregnancy, observing that the fully developed foetus has an independent right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

The court underscored that, at this advanced stage, termination could endanger the lives of both the petitioner and the foetus.
