PM Modi hails Para Asiad medallists for record haul

Back home after their record haul at the Asian Para Games (APG) in Hangzhou, the 303-member Indian contingent met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Wednesday.

India had their bestever medal haul in China last month going past the 100 mark for the first time by finishing with 111 medals, up from the previous best of 72 won in 2018.
Hailing the achievement, Modi said the medals were a manifestation of the dreams of the nation. "Your success inspires the entire nation and also instills a feeling of pride among the citizens," he said. "These 111 medals are not just numbers but 140 crore dreams.
"All of you present here, some came back winners, some wiser but none came back defeated. There is no losing in sports, only winning or learning", he said to thunderous applause.
