Govt created two Manipurs, says Cong MP Gogoi

The government that talks of one Bharat has created two Manipurs, Congress lawmaker Gaurav Gogoi said on Tuesday, launching a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi government while opening the debate on the no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.

Gogoi introduced the motion on no-confidence, and was scheduled to be the first speaker before the Congress decided, on Monday, that Rahul Gandhi, now reinstated in the House, would open the debate; on Tuesday morning, the party changed its mind.

Gogoi, an MP from Assam, questioned why Modi has maintained silence on Manipur, demanded that the state's chief minister N Biren Singh should be sacked and reminded the House that if Manipur is divided, India, too, remains divided. He questioned the BJP's nationalism plank and said the ruling party prioritizes power over nation.
