NCMC use in Delhi Metro on the rise, but smart card is still king

Around 1.8 million commuters on the Delhi Metro used National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) while travelling on the network in December 2023, data shared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has revealed.
This is a significant rise from the 23,246 users in June 2023, when the entire Metro network was made NCMC-compliant, DMRC officials said.
However, smart cards continue to remain the most preferred option for commuters on the Delhi Metro network DMRC data shows that 70.31% users availing smart cards, 1.98% use NCMCs, while the remaining 27.71% commuters use QR tickets (both printed and digital).
