Cops detain Pakistani woman, her partner

Pakistani national Seema Ghulam Haider and Sachin Meena, who shot to fame after an ostensible cross-border love story that saw her illegally enter India with her four children to be with her partner, were both taken into custody on Monday by the Uttar Pradesh AntiTerror Squad (ATS) for questioning.

LUCKNOW: Officers said that they were verifying Haider's identity proof and other documents, as well as those of her four children.

Prashant Kumar, special director general, law and order, said the move was part of a general inquiry conducted on all Pakistan nationals living in India without proper documentation.

Haider and Meena, who lives in Greater Noida, had met on PubG, the online multiplayer game that grew in popularity during the pandemic, began talking, and eventually fell in love. According to the two, they first met in Nepal in March 2023, where they got married, and three months later, Haider completed a daring escape from Pakistan with her four young children in tow, through Dubai and India's porous border with Nepal, to arrive in Greater Noida's Rabupura.
