Maha OBC leaders warn of protests, legal action
The Maharashtra government's decision to accept the Maratha reservation demand of activist Manoj Jarange-Patil evoked sharp criticism from Other Backward Classes (OBC) leaders, including those part of the ruling coalition, as they threatened to approach courts and launch protests over the "backdoor entry" of Marathas into the OBC quota chunk.
Chhagan Bhujbal, state minister and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party faction led by Ajit Pawar, termed the draft notification issued by the state government providing Kunbi certificates to all Marathas as a mere "eyewash".
