4 jail officials suspended day after Malik's SC visit

Four officials of jail number 7 at Tihar Central Jail were suspended on Saturday, a day after Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik was produced in the Supreme Court in connection with a terror funding case against him, which had prompted the solicitor general to write to the Union home secretary, who called it a major security lapse, and demanded action against the errant officials.
Delhi Prisons director general Sanjay Baniwal ordered an inquiry into the matter on Friday.
On Saturday, prison authorities said that one deputy superintendent, two assistant superintendents and one head warder of jail number 7 of Tihar central prison-where Malik is lodged -has been suspended.
Baniwal said that prima facie, these four officials were found responsible for Malik's physical production before the top court.
