Over 7,000 children went missing in Rajasthan in the past one year in 2024, of which 84% are girls mainly from the state capital, Jaipur, revealed data provided by the home department in response to a question by Congress MLA Hari Mohan Sharma during the ongoing state assembly session.

JAIPUR:

According to the home department, 7,339 children went missing in 2024, of which 6,196 are girls. The data also revealed that at least 501 of the total missing children could not be traced yet, of which 451 are girls.

A further region-wise analysis of the data showed that the maximum of 851 children went missing just from Jaipur, followed by 472 in Bhilwara, 442 in Udaipur, 331 in Kota and 302 in Ajmer. Of them, 647 girls went missing in Jaipur, 414 in Bhilwara, 404 in Udaipur, 279 in Kota, and 264 in Ajmer.

The data, meanwhile, also indicated a rampant missing trend in southern Rajasthan, which shares borders with Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, and also in Sri Ganganagar and Jodhpur, which share borders with Punjab and Pakistan, raising a serious concern for interstate human trafficking.
