US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Hamas must agree to a proposed peace deal by Sunday evening, threatening an even greater military onslaught nearly two years into the war sparked by the October 7 attack into Israel.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators take part in a national general strike called by different unions to condemn Israel's interception of the aid vessels of Global Sumud Flotilla aiming to reach Gaza, in Milan, Italy, on Friday. Meanwhile, Mohammed Nazzal, a member of Hamas's political bureau said the Palestinian militant group will respond to US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza “very soon”.

Trump appears keen to deliver on pledges to end the war and return dozens of hostages ahead of the second anniversary of the attack on Tuesday. His peace plan has been accepted by Israel and welcomed internationally, but key mediators Egypt and Qatar have said some elements need further negotiation, without elaborating.
