Jharia Residents Offer Special Namaz Amid Power Crisis

As part of a series of unique protests being carried out over the last fortnight, residents of Jharia on Friday offered 'special namaz' at the Rashidiya Masjid of Upar Kulhi in Jharia, seeking an end to the ongoing power crisis plaguing the coal town.
DHANBAD:
Led by local traders and members of various organisations, including the Jharia Chamber of Commerce, the agitation began on May 18 with a pot-and-pan protest in the main market area. The demonstrators aimed to draw the attention of the Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) to what they describe as "an increasingly unbearable situation".
