The district administration has deputed a 30-member National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team to an illegal coal mine in the Hazaribagh district forest area after three people got trapped due to inundation following heavy rainfall, police said on Sunday.

RANCHI:

A police official told Hindustan Times on Sunday that the inundation occurred on Wednesday, and the administration deputed the NDRF team on Saturday.

"The three people, including two mine operators and a tractor driver, had gone inside the coal mines on the border of Kandeber and Bariatu under the Keredari police station limits of Hazaribagh district to bring a water pump on Thursday around 3 p.m. All of a sudden, it started raining. The rain continued for a long time. This resulted in damage to the barrier of the Khabe River, beside which the illegal mines were located. River water gushed into the mines, and all three who had gone to bring the pump got trapped inside," the police official said.

The official said two mine operators and a tractor driver were among the three who got trapped.
