Ruckus Over Dissolution of New Districts

The state assembly witnessed an uproar during the Zero Hour on Thursday with the treasury and opposition benches locking horns over the dissolution of new districts.
JAIPUR: The Congress MLAs accused the government of abolishing the districts created by the previous Congress government due to political vendetta.
The issue had come up on Wednesday too when an adjournment motion was moved to discuss the abolition of some districts.
To this, Law Minister Jogaram Patel said that the matter was sub judice and he was of the opinion that it should not be discussed.
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said that the government was shying away from discussing the issue. "There are PILs in the court only on two of the districts that have been abolished. We will not discuss those two districts. But we can discuss the others," he said.
Speaker Vasudev Devnani said he would allow a discussion for 30 minutes during the Zero Hour on Thursday and Suresh Modi and Ramkesh Meena from the opposition benches would be allowed to speak on the issue, and one minister will be allowed to reply.
The previous Congress government had created 19 new districts and three new divisions in 2023. In an order last month, the present BJP government abolished nine districts and all the three divisions.
Suresh Modi, Congress MLA from Neem ka Thana, alleged that the BJP government's decision to abolish districts was politically motivated.
"The BJP lost all three seats in Shekhawati. The BJP was unable to digest this loss and so out of political vendetta they decided to abolish the new districts. The decision is unjust to the people of Neem ka Thana, it will deny development of the area and rob youth of opportunities," he said.
