HC seeks govt reply on land for Hindu migrants from Pak

The Rajasthan high court has asked the state government whether any existing scheme provides for the allotment of small plots to landless people and, if so, whether Hindus who have migrated from Pakistan and are residing in the state are considered eligible under such a scheme.

The division bench of chief justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and justice Sunil Beniwal posed the query during the hearing of a public interest litigation filed by the Visthapit Hindu Punarvas Samiti.
During the hearing on Tuesday, counsel Motisingh Rajpurohit submitted that over 32,000 people, mostly Hindus, migrated to India from Pakistan to escape religious persecution. He argued that these people, though residing legally in various parts of Rajasthan on long-term visas, continue to live in extremely poor and inhumane conditions without state support or access to permanent shelter.
