Gehlot slams BJP over irregularities in funds

Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Rajasthan government for the alleged irregularities in disbursement of the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Scheme For Academic Excellence, which was started by the previous Congress government to provide students with financial assistance to pursue education in foreign universities.

In a post on X, Gehlot said, "Changing the ruling party does not make any changes in the responsibility of the government. These children had gone to study in other countries relying on the government scheme. If the government treats them in this way then the public will lose trust in the government."

Gehlot announced this scheme on 20th August 2021 in commemoration of late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India in order to provide financial assistance to 500 students from the state every year to study in top foreign universities of the world.
