Over 1,500 resident doctors across Udaipur and Jodhpur began a protest over the deaths of two resident doctors in these two cities in a week and said they will boycott all non-emergency work for an indefinite period.
JAIPUR/JODHPUR/UDAIPUR: Over 1,500 resident doctors across Udaipur and Jodhpur began a protest over the deaths of two resident doctors in these two cities in a week and said they will boycott all non-emergency work for an indefinite period.
In Jodhpur, at least 550 resident doctors said they will boycott their work, demanding action against the seniors responsible for the alleged June 13 suicide of a 30-year-old resident doctor. The protesting doctors included resident doctors from Jodhpur and Kota Medical College and Hospital. The protest was staged at the SN Medical College in Jodhpur. The Jodhpur Resident Doctors' Association, however, said that Emergency, ICU, and labor room services will remain unaffected.
Association president Dr Heeralal Yadav said that for the last two days, resident doctors only boycotted work for two hours, between 8 and 10 a.m. "But with no response or action from the medical college administration, we have started an indefinite strike from 8 p.m. on Thursday," he said.
