JAIPUR: The Bhajan Lal Sharma-led government on Saturday completed its first year in office.
As the government celebrates this milestone, it has prepared an extensive blueprint to showcase its work across various departments, detailing achievements made in the first year.
Among the many accomplishments, two key initiatives stand out: the creation of over 125,000 new jobs and the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), both of which were pivotal issues during the BJP's electoral campaign.
As part of job creation in the state, 32,254 positions have already been filled and recruitment processes have been initiated for an additional 91,928 positions across various categories.
The second major achievement is the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), which has been a long-awaited initiative. In January 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the central government and Madhya Pradesh to kickstart the project. The first phase of the Novanera-Galwa-Besalpur-Ersada link has been advanced with three work orders worth ₹9,400 crore.
Farmers
In 2024-25, the Rajasthan government disbursed loans totaling ₹2.07 lakh crore to farmers under the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Additionally, 7.4 million farmers received ₹700 crore in financial support, while ₹200 crore was allocated as subsidies for livestock farmers.
However, concerns have been raised about lack of increase in minimum support price (MSP) for many crops. "None of our demands were fulfilled," said Rajasthan Kisan Mahapanchayat president Ram Pal Jat. "The new government has not even increased the MSP for many crops despite a promise."
Health
The government launched five new medical colleges in Baran, Banswara, Nagaur, Jhunjhunu, and Sawai Madhopur, each offering 100 MBBS seats. Additionally, the state introduced the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana by integrating the central government's Ayushman Bharat-PM Jan Arogya Yojana with the state's existing health insurance schemes.
