245 Children Fled Shelter Homes Since 2022: Data

At least 245 children have escaped from shelter homes across Rajasthan since 2022, of which over 65% cases took place at government-run facilities, showed data produced by the women and child welfare (WCD) department in the state assembly on Monday.
JAIPUR:
In response to a question raised by Todabhim MLA Ghanashyam Mehar, WCD revealed that between 2022 and 2024, at least 160 inmates have fled the government homes while 85 have escaped from private facilities. A total 96 such cases were reported in 2024, 64 in 2023, and 85 in 2022, as per the data.
A further classification of the data also showed that 58 of the total 85 inmates in 2022 were lodged in government facilities followed by 48 of total 64 in 2023, and 54 of total 96 in 2024. The corresponding figures for the private facilities were 27 in 2022, 16 in 2023, and 42 in 2024, showed the data.
