BIKANER: After a four-day protest over the deaths of three schoolgirls, who were killed after a dilapidated water tank's roof collapsed at the Government Primary School in Bikaner on February 18, the government assured the families of the deceased to provide a compensation of ₹20 lakh each, officials aware of the matter said on Saturday.
District collector Namrata Vrishni said, "As per the protesters' demands, we have suspended the block development officer (BDO) and block education officer (BEO). The victims' families were also assured that a compensation of ₹20 lakh will be provided to each, of which ₹5 lakh will be provided by the state government, ₹5 lakh from corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds, and ₹10 lakh from Nokha Mandi."
