High turnout proof that Bihar trusts ‘Narendra-Nitish’: Modi

The highest-ever turnout during the first phase of polling in Bihar is proof the trust people have reposed in the "track record of Narendra and Nitish", Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday as he led the ruling National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) campaign for the November 11 second phase of Bihar assembly polls.

On Friday, top NDA leaders, including PM Modi, two Union ministers -home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh - as well as Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and his UP counterpart Yogi Adityanath campaigned for the ruling alliance candidates in various parts of Bihar.

Addressing back-to-back rallies in Aurangabad and Bhabhua, the headquarters of Kaimur district, Modi predicted victory of the NDA, led in Bihar by chief minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar, and also lauded the Election Commission for successfully conducting elections.

"Yesterday, the voters of Bihar broke all records. Never before in the history of the state has there been such a high poll percentage. Much of the credit goes to mothers and sisters, the Maatri Shakti (mother power), who turned up in large numbers to raise the turnout to nearly 65%. It is evident that they all have trust in track record of Narendra-Nitish," he said.

The state recorded a turnout of 64.72% in 121 seats which went to polls on Thursday.
