Don't bring army into politics: Rajnath on Rahul’s comments

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday accused Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of attempting to “create anarchy” following his remarks that the army is “under the control of 10% of the country’s population”, as he cautioned the Congress MP to “not drag the army into politics”.

Addressing rallies in Banka and Jamui constituencies in poll-bound Bihar, Singh said that soldiers have “only one religion, that religion is ‘Sainya Dharma’”, adding that the armed forces have “raised India’s head high through bravery and valour”.

“Our army soldiers have only one religion. That religion is ‘Sainya Dharma’. There is no other religion besides this,” Singh said. “Don't drag our army into politics. Whenever this country has faced a crisis, our soldiers have raised India’s head high by demonstrating their bravery and valour.”
