Lower crude prices, monetary easing and normal monsoon behind new estimate
NEW DELHI: S&P Global Ratings on Tuesday upped India's GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal to 6.5%, citing lower crude prices, monetary easing and normal monsoon, and said the ongoing geopolitical tensions are unlikely to put a "significant pressure" on the rupee or inflation.
In its Asia Pacific Economic Outlook, S&P flagged rising risks to the global economy due to the turbulence in the Middle East, saying long-lasting major increase in oil prices could have significant economic impact in Asia-Pacific, notably via slower global growth and pressure on the current accounts of net energy importers, prices and costs.

Warrior, rebel, north star
BR Ambedkar's sweeping, searing Annihilation of Caste — his manifesto, enclosing all that he wished for, for his people and his country — turns 90 this month. It is many things: a compass orienting the reader, a mirror held up to a nation, a love letter to reason. See how it was born (from a speech he wasn’t allowed to deliver); how it defined for him the path he would follow for the rest of his life; and how far short we have fallen of the dreams he had for the new India
