I killed as cyclone hits Andhra coast

Severe cyclonic storm “Montha,” formed over the Bay of Bengal, and made a landfall near Antarvedipalem in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district, between Kakinada and Machilipatnam coasts late on ‘Monday while the impact was also felt in the neighbouring Odisha.
Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management _ Authority (APSDMA) managing director Prakhar Jain said that the complete landfall process is expected to take another three to four hours.
‘According to news agency PTI, a woman died in Andhra’s Konaseema district after a tree uprooted by gale-force winds fell on her; while at least six others were injured due to the cyclone impact in West Bengal. Heavy rains also lashed Andhra and Odisha.
‘As the cyclone began crossing the coast, heavy gales and rain lashed several coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, with wind speeds reaching 90 to 100 kmph, uprooting trees and electric poles in several areas of Konaseema region and adjacent West Godavari and Krishna districts.
