FIVE DAYS ON, HRY IPS OFFICER'S POST-MORTEM YET TO BE CONDUCTED

Five days after his alleged suicide, the postmortem examination of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar was yet to be conducted amid a continued standoff between the deceased's family and Chandigarh Police.
Kumar (52), a 2001-batch IPS officer, was found dead with a gunshot wound at his Chandigarh residence on October 7. In a “final note”, the Haryana IGP accused 14 senior officers, including incumbent state DGP Shatrujeet Singh Kapur and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya of prolonged caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment and humiliation.
