One of the accused posted a reel on his Instagram account in which he is holding gelatin-like explosive sticks in his hand
PUNE: A probe into an explosion inside a mosque in Beed district has revealed that the accused had created a video with the explosive material and circulated it on social media just after planting it inside the religious structure.
The police have arrested two suspects — Vijay Rama Gavhane, 22 and Shriram Ashok Sagade, 24 — both residents of Ardhamsla village even as two more persons have been detained in the case. According to the police, Gavhane and Sagade had a quarrel with the members of the Muslim community during the procession at Hazrat Sayyad Badshah Dargah near the mosque. Later, the suspects entered the mosque from behind and planted gelatine sticks, which exploded at around 2.30am on Sunday.
Gavhane posted a reel on his Instagram account in which he is seen smoking a cigarette with one hand and holding gelatin-like explosive sticks in the other. He uploaded the video on social media around the time of the explosion.
According to the police complaint filed by Rasehd Ali Hussain Sayyad. "After the blast, a villager named Sayyad Usman saw both accused fleeing the spot. Later, he came across a video on Gavhane's social media account where Gavhane is seen with a cigarette and explosive material." Hindustan Times has reviewed a copy of the FIR filed in the case. The Beed police have confirmed that the investigation will be handed over to the local crime branch unit led by police inspector Usman Sheikh.
