PATNA: Reaching an amicable seat-sharing formula has become the biggest challenge for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar, where assembly polls are due later this year, especially with the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not coming on agreement to contest 100 seats each, people familiar with the matter said.
With the elections to the 243-member Bihar assembly drawing closer, each coalition partner seems to be engaged in a pressure politics for a higher share of seats.
Insiders in the NDA said chief minister Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) is keen to contest 122 seats and wants the BJP to accommodate itself and other smaller allies in the remaining 121 seats.
The JD(U), according to a senior NDA leader, is also making a demand for the choice of seats.
