Union home minister Amit Shah on Friday said that India's befitting reply to the 2019 Pulwama attack changed the world's perception about the country and sent across a message to terrorists across the world about India's borders and the army.

DEHRADUN:

Addressing the closing ceremony of 38th National Games in Haldwani in Nainital district, Shah said, "Forty of our jawans were martyred in Pulwama on this day in 2019. After the sacrifice of jawans, India gave a befitting reply to the terrorists. It changed the world's perception about India and sent across a message to terrorists across the world of not messing up with India's borders and army."

Speaking about the government's consistent efforts to promote sports and develop its infrastructure, Shah said, "India is ready to host the Olympics in 2036. I have confidence that when the Olympics will be hosted in India, the athletes who played in National Games will bring medals for the country."

Shah said the prestige of the country's sports has increased on the global stage under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
