Despite a ban on playing DJs, it has not stopped.
PATNA: With Ramnavmi around the corner, the police headquarters have issued a directive for strong action against anyone playing loud music on the roads through DJs.
ADG (law & order) Pankaj Darad cited the Supreme Court guidelines prohibiting loud music after 10 pm and violation of the Loudspeaker Act, saying violators would be dealt with sternly under the provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Samhita.
"Loud music has adverse impact on ailing persons, heart patients and the elderly. There were instances of 2-3 persons having cardiac arrest due to excessively loud music during last Durga Puja. There have also been instances of violence due to loud music during festivals," he added.
Patna district administration has also announced a complete ban on playing DJs on roads. Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Awakash Kumar said DJs would not be tolerated at any cost on the roads and action would follow under the BNS provisions.
"Patna police has seized 22 DJs so far. Playing loud-speaker even on low volume would exceed 75 decibels and that is not allowed," he added.
