Odisha pilgrim's extortion case: Excise SI, constable suspended

A prohibition (excise) sub-inspector and a constable were suspended for their involvement in extorting ₹1 lakh from Odisha pilgrims at an integrated check-post near Uttar Pradesh borders, officials said.

Sub-inspector Irshad Ansari and constable Kunal Kumar were suspended following orders from Bihar's excise commissioner, Rajneesh Kumar Singh. The department has also sought an explanation from senior in-charge inspector Gunjesh Kumar, according to excise officials.
