Kalagrams at Patna, Bodh Gaya soon

Bihar will soon boast of two Kalagrams—specially designed cultural villages to showcase diverse art and craft, cuisines and cultural heritage of the state—at Patna and Bodh Gaya.

Chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena has asked the respective district magistrates to identify five to ten acre land parcels at tourist-friendly locations to establish the innovative village concept.

The move followed the Union ministry of culture's plan to set up 20 Kalagrams at culturally rich locations across the country. The concept of Kalagram was cynosure of the tourists, visiting Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh. In a letter to Bihar's chief secretary, Union culture secretary Arunish Chawla said that the Central government would bear all expenses of construction, maintenance and operational activities of Kalagrams in collaboration with the state government.
