JD(U) notice to party MP over SIR comments

The Janta Dal (U) on Thursday served a show cause notice to its party MP from Banka, Girdhari Yadav, for causing embarrassment to the party by issuing statements against Special Intensive Revision (SIR), currently underway in Bihar.
Yadav on Wednesday had attacked the Election Commission over SIR, saying the exercise will raise questions on the verdict of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Yadav said, “If the electoral roll was correct for the Lok Sabha polls, then how it can be incorrect for the Assembly polls to be held ina few months. Have I been elected on the basis of the incorrect electoral roll?”
On Thursday, while talking to a Hindi news channel, Yadav again warned that it could result in large-scale voter exclusion, particularly among marginalised communities.
