HC Relies Upon 'WhatsApp Nod' in Case Against Ex-ED of Patna AIIMS

Dr Pal Was Indicted by a Probe Committee of Health Ministry Over Allegations of Abusing His Official Position for His Son's Admission.

PATNA: The Patna high court (HC) has relied upon an approval granted on WhatsApp to a selection committee for admission in MD/MS courses in deciding a case of nepotism against Dr Gopal Krushna Pal, former executive director (ED) of Patna AIIMS, a review by the Hindustan Times of the court's oral order of December 20 last year, uploaded on the HC website on January 7, has revealed.

A division bench of the Patna high court, comprising Justice PB Bajanthri and Justice G Anupama Chakravarthy, dismissed Dr Pal's petition, challenging an order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on November 14 last year, refusing to grant him interim relief and posting him back as the ED of AIIMS Patna, after being transferred to the ministry of health and family welfare (MoH&FW), New Delhi, on November 4 last year, following an inquiry.
