CM Face in Grand Alliance Unlikely to Be Declared Before Polls

Insiders in the GA said the coalition this time is wary of declaring a CM face before the polls, unlike 2020 Assembly polls when Tejashwi was made the CM face.

PATNA: Even as the opposition's Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc in Bihar, known locally as the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), has formally set up its co-ordination committee to chart out strategy for the forthcoming polls with its third meeting slated on May 4, there are indications the bloc is unlikely to declare its chief ministerial face ahead of the election.

On Thursday, during the GA's second meeting held at state Congress office, Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, queries on the CM face of the coalition were evaded by the coalition leaders, including leader of the opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who was appointed the chairman of the GA's co-ordination committee in its first meeting on April 17 in Patna.
